- Commentary
- On the photograph it looks as though the last letter is a ḍ consisting of two concentric circles. A name s²ḍ has been found twice before in Safaitic CSNS 367, QZMJ 426) and once in Hismaic (Jacobson B 2.13). The name grms²ms¹ has been found three times before in Safaitic: in ASFF 6 and BES17 3 where it occurs in the same genealogy, and in AbaNS 35, which is known only from a copy, but which reads l grms²ms¹ bn s²ʿ h-bkrt where the final letter of patronym is represented by a dot. Given the rarity of name grms²ms¹ in Safaitic, this may call into question the interpretation of the last letter in the present inscription as a ḍ.
