Text Information

Siglum
SIJ 667
Transliteration
l ms¹k bn bdbl bn ms¹k ḏ- ʾl ḥẓy w fty -h
Translation
By Ms¹k son of Bdbl son of Ms¹k of the lineage of Ḥẓy and his slave

Interpretation

Apparatus Criticus
SIJ 667: gs¹m for ms¹k; bdrl for bdbl; ms¹(k) for ms¹k; nothing after ḥẓy.
Commentary
There is a thin, wavy, imperfection in the rock between the s¹ and the k in the first name but it is clearly ms¹k on the photograph and the letter-forms are almost identical to those of the third name. The letters at the end of the text which were not read by Winnett appear to read w fty -h “and his slave”. The final ḥ on the copy in SIJ does not seem to be a letter but rather a collection of extraneous scratches.
