Interpretation

Apparatus Criticus
DISCUSSION Macdonald 1992: 30–31, for the interpretation of ʾs¹ as 'leader'. Macdonald & Al-Najem (2016) commented: "The stone was in the Department of Antiquities collection at Taymāʾ in 1985 when it was photographed by William Facey. A sandstone ashlar (81 x 33 x 23 cm) with the inscription carved along one of the narrow edges. Nor previously published".

Associated Signs
The sign at the beginning is like a Nabataean p. Part of the "tail" of the p has been sheared away in a broad vertical gash with a narrower superficial diagonal stroke to its right.
