Interpretation

Commentary
It is possible that in ʿl- ḥd w ʿl- trṣ bn ḫl -h the word bn is in the dual [*banay] and refers to both ḥd and trṣ, but there is no means of showing this. For the plural rġmn mny compare C 4988. The verb s²rd in Classical Arabic means "to run away at random, to scatter", which does not seem to fit the context here and the suggestion that in Safaitic the meaning had developed to "escape" is purely a suggestion.
