Translation
ʿyḏ son of Ḥr at Khl performed two ẓll-ceremonies for his own sake and for the sake of his father and for the sake of his palm trees {for} Ḏġbt and so favour him and his posterity and help him

TEXT Line 1. Stiehl followed by Al-Qudrah and Farès-Drappeau: ḥbbt rather than ḥr b-khl. Line 2. Abū l-Ḥasan: ʾṭll h- ṭlln for ʾẓll h- ẓlln; Stiehl followed by Al-Qudrah and Farès-Drappeau: h- ẓll for h- ẓlln. TRANSLATION Line 1. b- khl, Stiehl, followed by Sima: 'by his abilities'; Al-Qudrah: 'professionally'; Abū l-Ḥasan: 'in the month Khl'. Line 2. ʾẓll h- ẓlln, '(he) took care of the awning'; Al-Qudrah: 'he constructed the awning'; Sima: '(he) covered the two subterranean water-channels'; Farès-Drappeau: '(he) offered the meats (of the female camel)'. Lines 3–4. bʿd, Sima: 'in the direction of'; Farès-Drappeau: 'on behalf of'. Line 6. ʾḫrt -h, Farès-Drappeau: 'he guided him'. DISCUSSION Déroche 1987: 104, 236, 240. Commentary
Due to damage to the rock face, the lines are not aligned on the left side. Line 1. It can be seen in the photograph and on Abū l-Ḥasan's facsimile that Sima's reading (followed here) is correct. The l of Khl can be seen between the last letter of line 4 of U 033 and the first letter of line 1 of U 035.

Provenance
Al-ʿUḏayb (Jabal ʿIkmah). The inscription is incised amongst a mass of others on one side of the huge rock, which Stiehl (1971: 4) called ‘Block A’
