TEXT Line 1. Sima: ʾʿmh rather than ʾʿmr. Line 2. Abū l-Ḥasan: ʾṭlt for ʾẓlt. TRANSLATION Line 2. ʾẓlt, Sima: '(she) covered (the subterranean water-channel)'. Lines 2–3. b- khl, Abū l-Ḥasan: 'in the month Khl'; Sima: 'by her abilities'; bʿd nʿm -h, Sima: 'in the direction of her field (?)'. Commentary
Line 2. The verb ʾẓlt means "she performed the ẓll-ceremony", the exact nature of which we do not know. Usually, but not always, this verb is followed by the noun h-ẓll meaning "the ẓll-ceremony". Thus, ʾẓlt and ʾẓlt h-ẓll both mean "she performed the ẓll-ceremony". Line 3. For nʿm compare Arabic naʿam farm animals "consisting of of camels or neat [cows] or sheep or goats or all the these or camels alone" (Lane 3035b).
