Interpretation

Apparatus Criticus
BRCM: ʾrḥt for ʾbḥt; s²fʿt for fs²gt; nṣr for nṣb. Translation: "For ʾrḥt son of Gls son of S²fʿt son of Glḥn and Nṣr and for him a horse and I built on the ʾs."
Commentary
Comparing the forms of b and r in this well-carved text, it seems probable that the first name here should be read ʾbḥt rather than ʾrḥt here and in the other inscriptions from this cairn. This text also provides the clearest reading of the third name in all the published inscriptions from this cairn. The reading is confirmed by Hismaic inscription ( ) where s² and g have their Hismaic forms.
