Commentary
This was the legion which was moved to the Roman Province of Arabia as soon as it was annexed in AD 106 and remained there for several centuries.

Provenance
On the south-south-west corner of the ridge forming the left bank of the tributary Wādī which flows from the north-north-west into the basin of the Wādī Shām in which the island with the mausoleum (site 45 = NI) stands. Site NBL.D is approximately 650 m west-south-west of site NI (45) and consists of the corner and the cliffs approximately 500 m along the left bank of the tributary. This ridge continues round the sharp corner west-south-west upstream in the tributary to a point where the Wādī is split by the ridge (site NBR, 7.5). Pools in this Wādī were still full of water in mid July 1995.
