Interpretation

- The editio princeps connects gl with Arabic ǧillah, which is given as a synonym for camels in the Lisān al-ʿarab. It is also possible to connect this word with Arabic ǧalla, "greatness", "of high rank", and translate the narrative as: "and he lay in wait at the look-out for enemies courageously." The editio princeps has mistakenly cropped the photo, so that only half of a line is apparent.
