Interpretation

Commentary: ḍ{r}{ʿ}{ṣ}l: It is difficult to make sense of this name, partly because it is unclear whether the final two letters are part of the same inscription or form a separate incomplete inscription. The second letter of the name is either a r or a b. The letter is a long and narrow, so resembles a r most. Immediately after this letter, the stone surface changes angle. There seems to be a small circle resembling a ʿ on this sloping section of stone. This circle could just be damage. Following this there is a letter that resembles a ṣ, a y, or a ṯ. The top circle is complete, but the bottom is less clear. Upon close inspection, it seems that the bottom has the fork of a ṣ, over which there is an area of damage that resembles the circle of a ṯ. It could be the case, however, that this apparent diagonal is damage.
