- Commentary
- The interpretation of this text is difficult. We have taken the word qrnt as being related to Classical Arabic qarn which has among its many meanings "best part of a pasturage" (Hava, 602). The verb wadaqa with ilā in Arabic can mean "to approach" (Hava 860) and afīl means a young camel (Lane 70 a–b). The translation is not at all satisfactory and is offered very tentatively.
