- MZSA 13: and he spend the summer at Haslam, and he sorrowed for Fanat, O Allât, peace
- Commentary
- Usually, when qyẓ is followed by ʿl- the next word is a place name or a topographic feature, e.g. w qyẓ ʿl- h-nmrt or w qyẓ ʿl- h-ʿrḍ. Thus h-s¹lm here is likely to be either a place name, or a topographic feature such as "this stony ground" (cf. Arabic salim meaning "stones", Lane 1414c). Fnt has already been found in connection with the verb qyẓ in RaIM 83274 (w qyẓ ʿl- fnt) and could be a place name but, here, it is more likely to be a common noun comparable to Arabic funnah "abundant pasture" (Lane 2447b) (Micahael Macdonald). The inscription is carved in the "rocking-blade" technique which produces zigzag lines.
