Interpretation
- Commentary
- Al-Jallad & Jaworska (under ḥyy) interpret ḥywt as "long life" but that does not seem appropriate in this context. We have therefore interpreted it on the basis of Classical Arabic ḥayāwah a "means of subsistence".
