Interpretation

Commentary
Although the letter-forms are Safaitic this is the type of text more usual in Thamudic B. However, it is particularly remarkable in using hn as the vocative particle rather than the usual h. In prayers of this type the preposition ʿl usually means either "against" or "in the matter of". ʾnqḏ (C [IV] conjugation of naqaḏa) can mean "to save, rescue" cf Arabic anqaḏa (Lane 2837b) and here would be the infinitive. Alternatively, Al-Jallad & Jaworska suggest taking it from Ancient South Arabian hnqḏ/s¹nqḏ to capture".
