Interpretation

Apparatus Criticus
AbSWS 81: By Ṣʿb son of ʿḏ son of Tm and he built for Bny the shelter
Commentary
Al-Mafraq Museum 32 is another inscription by the same author, with two more generations in the genealogy, saying the same thing. The translation in AbSWS 81 is equally possible, but we have preferred to assume the very common assimilation of the h- definite article to the -h suffix on bny-h. Note that the the drawing here is of a Bactrian camel while the drawing beside Al-Mafraq Museum 32 is of two dromedaries.
