Interpretation

Commentary

This author carved a number of inscriptions (WH 621, 627, 1777, 3820, Jawa76M 11). In 621 and 627 his father's name is spelt mrʾʿzy, while in WH 1777, 3820 and Jawa76M 11 it is spelt more correctly as mrʾ-hʿzy See WH's commentary to this text and Macdonald 1993: 348 n. 288: on names with ʿzy in Safaitic and Nabataean. The word frs¹ can of course mean "horse" or "horseman".
