WH 3663

Text Information

Siglum
WH 3663
Transliteration
l gml w rʿy m- h- nql
Translation
By Gml and pastured [away] from this torrent.

Interpretation

Apparatus Criticus
WH: l gmr w rʿy m h- nqh "By Gmr and he pastured [and] watered his she-camels"
Commentary
The lām auctoris is a curved line and if the letter after w is to be read as a r then the fourth letter must be a l (so gml rather than gmr). The photographs suggest that the side-stroke of the final letter in WH's copy is a discolouration of the rock (so nql rather than nq-h).

Provenance
WH Cairn 46 and this inscription were rediscovered and photographed by the Badia Epigraphic Survey in 2018 and the co-ordinates given are exact
