Interpretation

Commentary
We have taken the ʾl- before nbṭy as one of the rare forms of the definite article in Safaitic (see Al-Jallad 2015: 16). There is a m before rʿy which suggests that it is the verbal noun mrʿy (compare Arabic marʿan, Lane 1108b), thus a circumstance clause "while pasturing". Tentatively, we would suggest that lt m- ʿmn is "Lt from Ammon". See Macdonald, Al Muʾazzin & Nehmé 1996: 474–476 on dṯn.
