- Commentary
- This inscription and the others on this rock should be read as Hismaic. The first letter of the second name is damaged but it seems most likely it should be restored as an ʿ. The second letter of the name is a grid and it seems likely it should be read as a Hismaic ṯ. The letter following mny is almost certainly a Hismaic ġ the two projecting lines of which have been joined by the top of the enormous d at the end of the text. The final word is clearly ms¹rd but since this does not seem to have any meaning appropriate to the context, it is possible that it is a name, though it is unattested. This is not at all satisfactory.
