OCIANA 1: ḥnn ʾl-h 'he yeared for them (i.e., family)'
- Commentary
-
s²ṭr: Compare this with Classical Arabic šaṭara "he withdrew far away from his family; or broke off from them, or quitted them in anger" (Lane p. 1550c). The absence of an overt object suggests that it must be understood as a stative in Safaitic, 'being far away.'
ḥnn: This should be understood as an optative suffix conjugated verb, ḥannana.
