The alif confirms that this text is in the South Arabian script, but it is characterized by several irregularities. The n is more similar to Taymanitic or Dumaitic while the alif and the kāf are mirrored; the f is unusual as well but within the realm of variation. These irregularities may suggest that the engraver was unskilled at writing or that it was written by a person from one oases of North Arabia who had learned the South Arabian script imperfectly. The name drfʾ is unattested in South Arabian, although the root drf is attested. Ns¹k is a well-attested name in North Arabia.
