- Commentary
This text attests the name of the famous mountain of the Ṭayyiʾ tribe, ʾgʾ /ʾAgaʾ/. The group name ʾgʾ is attest once in Safaitic, in GS 1, the author of which longs for a woman called ʿbtlġn. This name is otherwise unattested in Safaitic and does not seem to be etymologically Safaitic either, which may suggest that she hailed from a far away place, plausibly the area of Ḥāʾil. If this is correct, ʾl ʾgʾ would refer to a group dwelling in the vicinity of this mountain.
