Interpretation
- Commentary
- The first letter is almost certain the lām auctoris, but has a diagonal line crossing over it. The letters bn have been restored as the stone is broken following ngyt. It is possible that more letters than bn have been lost, but this seems unlikely. One can still see the edge of the stone and there would only be room for around two letters. The first letter of ʾḫḏ looks like a h on the stone, but the bottom of it has broken away from the stone, so is almost certainly a ʾ. The name ʾḫḏ has been attested 13 times previously in the OCIANA database, whereas a theoretical hḫḏ or ṣḫḏ have never been attested. The technique of inscription changes to hammering at the end of the inscription. Josef Bloomfield
