Interpretation
- Commentary
- The reading of mgdt is unclear due to damage to the stone. The final t seems to be to the left of f. The inscription includes a peculiar grammatical feature in its formation of the curse formula. With the use of m as the relative pronounce in the formula, one would expect one of the following variations (see Al-Jallad 2015: 208): ʿwr m ʿwr; ʿwr l- m ʿwr; ʿwr m yʿwr or ʿwr l-m yʿwr. Here we find a reversal of the final variation above, where the first verb (yʿwr) is not in the imperative but in the prefix conjugation, whereas the verb in the relative clause is not in the prefix conjugation.
