Interpretation

Commentary
Due to abrasion on the stone and the lack of detailed photographs, the inscription is difficult to read. The ẓ of nẓr has a line across the end that should be open, but this has been read as extraneous. The second and third letters of tʾs¹ are uncertain. The second looks like a h, but in enhanced photographs one can see a diagonal line drawn from upper left of the letter. This leaves us with the reading of ʾ. The following letter could either be a s¹ or b. The inscription seems to continue with the name of somebody. The name clearly begins with a m, but the following two letters are uncertain. The second could be a g,w, or large ʿ. The third is difficult make sense of and could be a number of letters, including s², f, and ṣ. Following the final bn, there is a letter that looks like an 8-shape, with a line above it. It is not clear what this letter represents or whether it is a combination of letters. The next legible letter is within an area of abrasion (m). Josef Bloomfield
