Interpretation
- Commentary
- The inscription starts at the top left of the stone, above BES20 939. The fourth name in the genealogy is difficult to read due to abrasion on the stone. The reading provided is based on the enhanced photograph. The final two letters twist around to the bn above. The reading assumes that the r is at the right edge of the stone, the bottom horizontal line of letter visible above the lam auctoris of the BES20 940. Within the curve of the letter is the short line of the apparent n. This reading is not very satisfactory as there is a jump between the previous letter, possibly a ḫ, that one would not expect. The fifth and possibly sixth names of the inscription cannot be read due to abrasion. Josef Bloomfield
