Language and Script
Safaitic 2

Interpretation

Commentary
The term s¹ʿdt is clear on the stone and must be related to the previous verb, tqnṭ, to be filled with fear. We may find a parallel with the Classical Arabic sāʿidah, a lion (Lane 1363a and Hava 313). Other names for the lion attested in Safaitic are ʾs¹d, lṯ, and rṣf. Josef Bloomfield
