By Mṣr son of Ḥny son of Gs¹k of the lineage of Kn and he birthed the sheep and was filled with fear [on account of] a lion and so O Lt [grant] security

- Language and Script
- Safaitic 2
Interpretation
- Commentary
- The term s¹ʿdt is clear on the stone and must be related to the previous verb, tqnṭ, to be filled with fear. We may find a parallel with the Classical Arabic sāʿidah, a lion (Lane 1363a and Hava 313). Other names for the lion attested in Safaitic are ʾs¹d, lṯ, and rṣf. Josef Bloomfield
