Interpretation

Commentary
The meaning of the narrative following w grz is difficult to make sense of. Most of the letters are clear on the stone, apart from the letter that has been read as the m of mn-. If the letter is indeed a m, it looks very different to the other ms in the inscription. Nevertheless, the other possible readings of the letter, b and s¹, also appear in a different form in the inscription. A reading of ḥ is possible, but difficult to make sense of in the context. The translation of nfs¹ assumes the author is referring to himself, but one would expect a -h (i.e. nfs¹ -h) following the term. Josef Bloomfield
