Interpretation
- Commentary
-
The author does not always clearly distinguish between the shape of r (see ʿqrbn) and l. The term bql could potentially be bqr (cattle), but the relative rarity of this term makes a reading of bql much more likely. The first word in the narrative before ḥbb is difficult to make sense of. The second letter is clearly a y, but the first could potentially be a number of letters. It seems likely that part of stone upon which was carved letters before ḥbb has broken away.
