Interpretation
- Commentary
- It is not clear whether the final two letters are intended to be a name or the start of a verb. There is a shape to the left of the ḍ, on the edge of the stone, that resembles a ṯ or ṣ, or perhaps a r. A tentative suggestion might be that this shape, resembling a r, is actually a b that has been compressed by the author to squeeze into the space before the edge of the stone. If this is the case, we might find a ʾ on the other face of the stone that is not included in the photograph, giving the verb tḍbʾ, to raid. Josef Bloomfield
