Commentary

by: A personal name attested 8 times in Safaitic.

yhmm: Third singular masculine person of a rather commonly occurring verbal form in Dhofari inscriptions. According to Al-Jallad it means 'to worry about' or 'to be mindful of' (2025d). Cf. also Jibbali/Shehret H1-stem verb اهمم 'to be concerned, to encourage someone to do something' (MLZ 964). It is unclear why the object is sometimes introduced by l- and other times unmarked.

nhd: An uncommon personal name, cf. Arabic nihād. It is attested twice in Safaitic and once in Hadramitic with mimation as nhdm. Al-Shahri & King's tracing points to nrhd. However, the original photograph shows rather clearly that what the above authors interpreted as a dot is, in actuality, a stray mark resulting from the /h/ in yhmm.
