Interpretation

Commentary

dlym: A hitherto unattested personal. However, compare the root √dlm yielding terms meaning 'very black' in Arabic (Lane 907) and 'mean, greedy' in MSAL (Johnstone 1981: 39; 1987: 70).

nld: this is attested only once as an anthroponym in Safaitic. Its etymology is unclear. It is to be noted that the third character is unclear, and could be a <ʿ>, in which case the anthroponym in question would read /nlʿ/.

---: The third name in the sequence is not clearly legible.

frd: This name is attested twice in Dhofari (cf. DhSh 3 and KMD 42), as well as multiple times in Safaitic, and is a cognate of the Arabic name Farīd.
