Interpretation

Commentary
The letters are relatively clear on the stone. The verb ʾqṣy seems to be parallel to the Arabic ʾafʿal form of Q-Ṣ-W, to remove a. o. far away (Hava 603). The final letter of the word read as ʾḏry looks very much like a ṯ. The stem of the letter runs through the hook in other letters in the inscription (e.g. the ṣ and y of ʾqṣy). The stem of the letter that looks like a ṯ does not run through bottom hook of the letter, whereas it does run through the top hook. It seems likely, therefore, that the bottom hook is a mistake and the letter should be read as y. The inscription ends with a w and seems to be unfinished.
