Interpretation

Apparatus Criticus: RyDamas 9094 not read; ISP 63 bis: ʾnʿm for ʾbgr; s²km for s²kr
Commentary: The inscription is carved on one one face of a circular piece of limestone, 18–19.5 cms in diameter and 5 cms thick. There is a fragmentary Palmyrene inscription on the reverse reading dkyr ml---- which is ISP 63 ter (Schlumberger 1951: 86, 168). It was found in the courtyard of the fort at Biʾr al-Washal ("Ouéchel" in Schlumberger 1951: 46–48, 86 §7). Although the final letter of the text is looks doubtful on the photographs and was read as m by Ryckmans, it is clearly a r on the stone as shown by both the copy in Schlumberger 1951: 168, fig. 13 and that of M.C.A. Macdonald.
