and ʿAbdibōlOCIANA - Language and Script
- Aramaic (Palmyrene)/Palmyrene
Interpretation
- Apparatus Criticus
- Kubiak-Schneider & Al-Manaser (2024: 264) translate the first part of the text as "‘This heap of stones which stood for observing the right moment and for the arrangement, for all his people, for one and only our lord, which excavated and carved…’."
- Commentary
- The reading and translation [originally in French] are by M. Gorea (2023: 243) and see her commentary there. The date is in the Seleucid ere and is equivalent to AD 159. She notes that the script is cursive Palmyrene though the forms of certain letters (e.g. ʾalef, ḥeth, yod and ṣādē) are different.
