Interpretation

Winnett and Reed 1970: ḏ mʿly 'Him-on-high', a divine name; ʾḫrt -h '(he) guide him'.

OCIANA 1: tqṭ mʿ ḏ mʿly 'he wrote in the company of the one from the tribe of Mʿly'

Commentary

Ḏmʿly is now clearly established as a divine name, meaning literally 'he of the summit' /ḏū maʿlay/ (personal communication F. Kootstra and J. Norris).

There is a small, lightly hammered text under W.Dad 16 that appears to read: b-yd ...ʾ 'by the hand ... ʾ'.
