Interpretation
- Apparatus Criticus
- TEXT Line 4. Sima restores the beginning of this line with the word [nḫl -h] to follow the preposition bʿd at the end of line 3. The lacuna at the beginning of line 4 could equally well be filled with the expression ml -h (U 005/4-5, etc.) or ṯbrt -h (U 013/4, etc.). TRANSLATION Line 2. [h-] ẓll, Sima: 'the subterranean water-channel for Ḏġbt'. Line 3. khl bʿd, Sima: 'by her abilities in the direction of'. DISCUSSION Hidalgo-Chacón Díez 2014: 18, 20–22, for the place names Tqmm and Khl.
- Commentary
- The inscription is incised. Part of the rock to the right of this text has broken away with the loss of the beginning of each of the lines.
- Provenance
- Al-ʿUḏayb (Jabal ʿIkmah). The inscription is carved at the far right end of the rock which Stiehl (1971: 4) called ‘Block A’
