Translation
By Fqṭṣ {son of} Grmʾl son of Ẓʿn son of Bnt of the lineage of Ḍf and he sought the {sheep}, so, O god of the lineage of {ʾbgr}, may he be secure from {enemies} ----

Interpretation

Commentary

fqṭṣ: This is clearly a non-Arabic name. Alexander Hourani suggests that it is a transcription of the Latin name, Pacatus. If we seek a Greek etymology, it could be compared to the adjective Πηκτός 'fixed', 'solid,' possibly a translation of a common Arabic name, like ṯābit or ṣulb.

b[[n]]: The first word 'son' has been altered to read bt 'daughter'. That this inscription was composed by a man is confirmed by the gender of the verb bġy.

ʾlh ʾl ʾbgr: This deity is attested for the first and only time here. ʾbgr possibly refers to the ruling dynasty of Edessa and Osroene in northern Mesopotamia from 134 BC to 242 AD.
