AbaNS 211
Text Information
- Siglum
- AbaNS 211
- Transliteration
- l ltm bn bhm h- ʿr
- Translation
- By Ltm son of Bhm is the hybrid
Interpretation
- Apparatus Criticus
- AbaNS 211: ʿr "lion"
- Commentary
- If ʿr refers to the drawing it clearly cannot mean "hybrid", as in other texts and it is difficult to know how to interpret it. See Macdonald (in press, a) for the reasons for translating ʿ(y)r in Safaitic as a hybrid, that is a "mule" (the offspring of a male donkey x female horse) or a "hinny" (the offspring of a male horse x female donkey).
