Interpretation
- Commentary
-
This is an atypical grieving text, expressing the author's sadness for his beloved with an unformulaic statement.
ʾḏ: The temporal conditional /ʾiḏā/.
ḫbṯ: A verb meaning 'to ruin', but here we should understand it was a passive.
ʾmr: Compare with Classical Arabic ʾamrun 'an affair, condition.'
