Interpretation

Commentary
The inscription runs downwards immediately in front of the camel and continues between its legs. The verb ʾqḏ has occurred three times before, in two of which the object is a she-camel (WH 1234 nqt and AbaNS 16 bkrt) . Although in Arabic, the root W-Ḏ-Ḏ is primarily to do with trimming the feathers for arrows, qaḏḏa and qāḏḏaḏa can mean "to cut, trim (the hair)" (Hava 593).

Associated Drawings
A young she-camel.
