- There does not seem to be a n following the b before the third name in the genealogy. Following ḍll f, it is hard to make sense of the meaning of the letters, despite being relatively clear on the stone. The readings of b, s¹, and m are certain, and the letter following b is either a h or a y. The reading here assumes that h- s¹m is a previously unattested place name. As this is not an entirely satisfactory reading, it is presented here tentatively. The final word seems quite clearly to be ʿmrt, despite the fact there seems to be a gap between the the m and r, as the inscription runs over an edge of the stone. Given the context of remaining in a place and grieving, it seems possible that ʿmrt is similar to the Classical Arabic ʿumrah, which, aside from its religious context, can mean 'a visit' (Lane 2155b; Hava 492a). The writing that the author refers to seems to be at the same type and is published here as BES20 1459. Josef Bloomfield
