Interpretation

Commentary

KMGH 5 contains three clearly painted names, probably a three-generation genealogy.

ḍlʿt: While ḍlʿ is a known root, it is not attested in the ANA onomasticon. Ḍlʿ(m) is a toponym in both Safaitic and Sabaic.

ʿmrThis name probably corresponds to Arabic ʿumaru rather than ʿāmirun on account of the absence of mimation.

lbnm: This name derives from the common Semitic root lbn ‘white’ and is a productive anthroponym in ANA.
