Al-Ghul 2021: Trans. '...and he remembered Ns¹r and ʾlhh, and he went down to the water as the first of (all) people.'
- Commentary
-
ʾns¹: The syntax of h- ʾwl ʾns¹ is unexpected and the phrase 'first of all people' would more likely have been rendered ʾwl h-ʾns¹. I suggest instead that the clitic pronoun -h refers back to the pool nhy and that ʾwl ʾns¹ is an adverbial phrase meaning 'during the first part of ʾns¹. As such, ʾns¹ would be a time period.
