ʿAlaqān, Tabūk Province, Saudi Arabia

"ʿAlaqān is situated about 140 km northwest of Tabuk near the Jordanian border. It is a part of Ḥismā plateau, which extends from Southern Jordan to the west of Tabūk. Ḥismā is characterised by sandstone rocks, and the abundance of inscriptions on them indicates that the area played a vital role as one of the most important routes from the first millennium BCE to the early Islamic period" (Tokunaga and Altarib 2024).

A ruined village, abandoned in the 20th century, is located in the canyon along with a large well that still retains water but has been covered.
