Interpretation

Commentary

This text is dated to the appointment of Gaius Claudius Severus to rule over Nabataea, perhaps in 106 or 107 CE. The inscription likely refers to the same event mentioned in al-Namārah.M 58: s¹nt ʾmrt {ṣ}{b}r{ṣ} h-mdnt 'the year Severus {took control of} the province.'
