Commentary

This inscription attests the first reference to the "lost" Arabian tribe of ʿād in Safaitic. The tribal group is known from two other Hismaic inscriptions. See Al-Jallad (2025) for a full discussion. See this lecture for a presentation of the history of ʿād to the general public.
