Interpretation

Commentary

This text is on the same panel as BES19s 4 and BES19s Grk 3. The female to which this inscription refers, Gb, is known from a burial site about a kilometer away (Al-Jallad et al. forthcoming). This is the first example of a man referring to himself as the 'husband' of someone, and likely indicates the important social status of his wife.
