Interpretation
- Commentary
Between the ṣ and the y in ṣyr there appears to be a mark on the stone, perhaps a writing mistake by the author. It doesn’t make for a meaningful letter, however, and the reading of the verb ṣyr here is assured. The author of this inscription may potentially be the author of BES20 31 and the father of ZMMS 8's author. In particular, BES20 31 features almost identical letter-shape conventions and orientations and the hand appears similar. However, this can only be tentatively suggested since they only share two generations.
