Interpretation

Commentary
The inscription is highly patinated and therefore can only be read in enhanced photographs. The first letter looks more like a ġ than a l. The first two letters of the author’s name are very uncertain and could be a number of possibilities. Following the second bn, the inscription seems to flow downwards. On the inverted enhanced photograph, it is possible to see a zigzag shape following the n, which has been read as a s². This, however, leaves us with the unsatisfactory and unattested name s²rẓ.
